It's Easy Math: You + Your Partner + Toys = Fun

Why should you bring toys in the bedroom with your partner?

Sex is a favorite activity for many people, and with good reason: It can be super pleasurable, it helps you bond with a partner, and it has a host of pleasant side effects that can improve your health. That said, for as wonderful as sex can be, sometimes it’s hard to get good information. After all, it’s often a taboo topic, and certainly not something most folks discuss over the dinner table (unless you work here at OhCleo!)

So let’s talk! What about toys? Sure, many women have at least one toy in their nightstand that they use when they’re by themselves -- and that’s great, as everyone should have a healthy intimate relationship with themselves. But have you ever thought about bringing that toy into bed with you and your partner? If not, you definitely should, and here’s why.

Using sex toys together is associated with a healthy relationship

According to a study in the Journal of Sex Research, couples who used toys together were more likely to be happy in their partnership, both inside and outside of the bedroom. These couples were also more likely to engage in other intimate encounters with each other, including scheduling specific times for sex, getting steamy in the shower, and being more likely to explore different positions together. Given that all of those activities sound pretty hot, it’s all the more reason to bust out the toys next time you’re feeling frisky.

Using sex toys can boost sexual health - for everyone

Not surprisingly, using toys in the bedroom can increase your sexual satisfaction. But did you know that doing so can also increase your overall sexual health? According to a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, men who used vibrators (whether solo or on a partner) also had a higher desire for sex, better orgasms, and improved erectile function. Additionally, as per a study in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, using sex toys with a partner can decrease any pain that women might feel while being intimate. Talk about a win-win!

Bringing sex toys into your relationship can take the pressure off you

Let’s face it, sometimes sex can be an endurance sport. According to a study by the University of Quebec at Montreal, men burned 4.2 calories per minute and women burned 3.1 calories per minute during sexual encounters. And while that’s not as intense as, say, going for a run, that’s still significant. To that end, bringing in the toys can reduce the amount of work needed to get to the top of the proverbial mountain. That can be nice on nights when you’re in the mood, but tired after a long day at work.

But make sure it’s for the right reason

While there are indeed benefits to bringing toys into your partnership, make sure that you’re communicating with your partner about it. In no way should your sweetie feel like any toys used are replacing them, or that they’re not capable of pleasuring you on their own. Rather, make sure you both know that toys merely enhance what you already have, and you’re bound to grow closer together than further apart.
