Squirting 101
What you need to know about squirting
If you have a penis, then you likely already know everything there is to know about ejaculation. However, if you have a vulva and vagina, you might not be privy to the phenomenon of squirting. That’s despite the fact that 69% – yes, really – of participants in a squirting study have had the experience, per Medical News Today. So what exactly is squirting and how do you do it? We’ve got the lowdown.
What is squirting?
While some folks have differing opinions on squirting, the aforementioned study defined it as “the outflow of a liquid different from the urine through the urethra at the moment of orgasm.” You might have heard it referred to as “female ejaculation” as well, though that term is arguably antiquated. Still, you can grasp that it’s similar to the act of ejaculating from a penis.
How does it feel to squirt?
As you might imagine, the sensation of squirting is quite pleasant. In a prior study on the phenomenon, the vast majority of participants said it makes their intimate life more pleasurable. Additionally, some folks have said that it can render their orgasms stronger, while others said the sensation was akin to needing to pass urine.
What causes squirting?
While there is some speculation on the topic, squirting is most likely connected to having your g-spot – that’s the sensitive spot just inside of the vagina that reacts to sensation – stimulated. Using a 'come here' motion with your finger can help you find the soft, spongy area at the 'top' of the vagina. As for why some folks with vaginas and vulvas squirt and others don’t, some scientists believe it has something to do with our development in the womb. That’s because all of us start out the same in utero, before we later develop into one sex or another.
How to squirt
If you want to see if you’re capable of squirting, your best chances are during a good masturbation session. Enhance your self-loving with a sex toy, such as a vibrator that stimulates your g-spot and clitoris at the same time. Some people require a lot of pressure on the g-spot in order to squirt - but make sure you are sufficiently wet (or lubed!) to withstand such pressure. Oh, and if you’re going to squirt, it’s most likely going to happen at the moment of orgasm. If you want to try and squirt with a partner during penetration, your best bet is in a position like doggy style or rider on top for maximum g-spot stimulation.
Your mileage may vary
Not everyone can squirt, so don’t fret if you don’t. But if you do, be sure to enjoy it and know that it’s perfectly natural to do so. You can even celebrate it, as folks have done at events like the squirting contest at Love Burn in Miami, Florida and Burning Man in Black Rock City, Nevada. It’s just further proof of how amazing vaginas and vulvas can be! One more thing! Enjoying a sexy audio is a great way to get into a self-play mood <3
